Catalyst Wedge W-03 Green

Catalyst Wedges are handy tools useful in a variety of arts and crafts: fusible paint and powder manipulation on glass, oil and acrylic painting and textured media application, ceramics, plaster, encaustics (they’re heat-resistant)—even baking and food crafting. These wedges are made of a pliable, FDA-approved silicone that’s resistant to solvents and easy to clean. They’re manufactured by the Princeton Brush Company.

The wedge W-03 (green) features a row of flat-head teeth that will produce 5mm (3/8”)-wide parallel lines when drawn through powder, paint, clay, wax, acrylic gels or pastes. You can get a great checkerboard effect by drawing a second time through your medium at right angles. As you draw the wedge, you also can tilt and swerve the blade to create beautiful lines that narrow and widen into stunning patterns.
