Glassline Chalk Crimson

These chalks are made specifically for glass fusing. They can be exposed directly to the kiln's heat, and when brought to a full fuse (1470-1500 degrees F), they will fuse right into the surface of the glass. They also can be sandwiched between two layers of glass. They look best when applied to opaque glass. They are lead free and food safe, and work with most types of glass from float to 90 and 96COE. They don't "mix" per se, but they can be applied in layers which then show intermediate color variations. You can also experiment with using a wet paintbrush to blend and "smear" the chalks once they'be been applied. I prefer to apply them heavily so as to get the best color saturation, but that will add a bit of texture (which doesn't rub off) to the surface of full-fused glass. Once fused, they can be layered for in-depth effects, or you can paint right over them with your favorite fusible paints (Glassline Pens and Reusche mixes will work fine), and full-fuse them again. You can even save the leftover chalkdust in our little mini-bottles for later use. NOTE: These can't be applied to regular smoothed glass. The glass surface has to be roughed. My favorite surfaces for these chalks are either glass made matte with our 36-grit Silicon Carbide (sold alone or in our kit), or glass that's been sifted with powders and tack-fused to about 1250 degrees F.
